Poetry Stuff!!

Literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature.

• Simile - comparing things using "like" or "as".• Metaphor - direct comparison of something.• Alliteration - "she sold seashells by the shore".• Allusion - "He was investigating the case like Sherlock Holmes".• Personification - "The lightning danced across the sky".• Hyperbole - an extreme exaggeration of something.• Rhyme - a repetition of similar sounds in two or more words• Repetition - the action of repeating something that has already been said or written.• Idiom - something that's not possible and has a different meaning from what is said.• Onomatopoeia - a word that imitates a sound• Pun - a joke exploiting the different possible meanings of a word or the fact that there are words which sound alike but have different meanings.
